When we see our sin for what it is, it is indefensible. Whether it be the pride that slinks into our hearts, wrongly thinking God needs us. Or the jealousy that can’t seem to be happy with the things God has given us let alone the things God has given others. Or the slothful love that won’t serve others because it’s “not my circus, not my monkeys”. Or the appetites that seek to rule and devour us: greed, lust, gluttony. Or the fierce anger that is kindled at the offense or word spoken against us. All of it is without defense when laid beside the matchless perfect savior, Jesus Christ.

But these sins were not laid beside Jesus, they were laid UPON Jesus. At the cross, Jesus yielded his own life to save people that did these very sins…you and me.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

By his wounds, with his blood, we were healed. If we come under the protection of the cross, believing on the Lord Jesus, the Bible says we will be saved. When we do, we are made clean! There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

While sin will be with us as long as we are in this fallen body, it is not our master anymore. Once we come to faith in Christ, we are set free to obey him and do the good works he has prepared for us to do. We have a new master and we are to die to sin and live unto him.

I am so thankful for his cleansing blood. If you know him, you are too! When my sin is made apparent, I am all the more thankful for His blood which did what I could never do…made me and continues to keep me truly clean!

I wanted to share a song today. I hope you can take a moment to worship and thank our Lord who yielded his life unto death for the joy set before him. His perfect work on the cross cleanses us from all unrighteousness by his own blood. Thank you Jesus!

Have a very blessed Easter! Love, Erika
