Last week was a disheartening blow to all who stand for Life.
When lies and nuance muddy the waters of truth, and the people demand their own way, it is so helpful to go back to the foundations of God’s word and ask “what is true?”
We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
God forgives repentant sinners and washes us clean.
Romans 5:8
There is forgiveness and healing in Jesus Christ alone.
John 3:16-18
In Christ, repentant sinners are no longer condemned for their sins.
Romans 8:1 tells us “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Yet if those in Christ are no longer under condemnation, we must conclude– that apart from His salvation–others still stand condemned. The Bible says Jesus Christ is the only way of escape.
And Satan–being masterful at speaking his native language of lies, has tangled up issues of life and death politically, lie upon lie. There is an incredible blindness which has become entrenched in Choice, making it equivalent to human autonomy and personal freedom. It is a sad realization that women are bent on defending this Choice.
In my own down-cast spirit this week, God used Psalm 36 (and 37) to remind me of truth. God’s plan is not finished. Today is still the day of salvation and some will still come. He will always be a God to his people. He will act against the wicked in his timing. Their plans will not stand, but the ways of the Lord always will. Be encouraged!
The ungodly are blind; they don’t know God
Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart;
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For he flatters himself in his own eyes
That his iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit;
He has ceased to act wisely and do good.
He plots trouble while on his bed;
He sets himself in a way that is not good;
He does not reject evil.
The steadfast character of God
Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Your judgments are like the great deep;
Man and beast you save, O Lord.
The outcome for the ungodly vs the godly
How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house,
And you give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
In your light do we see light
Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your righteousness to the upright of heart!
Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me,
nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the evildoers lie fallen;
they are thrust down, unable to rise.
Love,
