Do you feel at a loss for wisdom? We do well to recall that God tells us we can ask for wisdom! (James 1:5) Think of it! We can ask for–and receive–wisdom from God when we are lacking!
Oftentimes wisdom’s answer comes through other godly people’s counsel. It certainly comes directly from his word and prayer. And sometimes it comes through doing things with a watchful eye. This passage from Isaiah 28:23-29 was an encouragement to me as I search for wisdom in a new matter of my own life.
Perhaps it will encourage you too. Verse 29 summarizes that God is an excellent teacher, wonderful in counsel and wisdom. The Lord of Hosts (angel armies) teaches the farmer and surely he can lead you and me as we seek him in matters of parenting, relationships, finances, health, decisions etc…
Wisdom will always walk hand in hand with his word. May we be planted in truth and work out our faith in action and a watchful, discerning eye.
Give ear, and hear my voice;
Give attention, and hear my speech.
Does he who plows for sowing, plow continually?
Does he continually open and harrow his ground?
When he has leveled its surface, does he not scatter dill,
Sow cumin, and put in wheat in rows and barley in its proper place,
And emmer as the border?
For he is rightly instructed; his God teaches him.
Dill is not threshed with a threshing sledge,
Nor is a cart wheel rolled over cumin,
But dill is beaten out with a stick,
And cumin with a rod.
Does one crush grain for bread?
No he does not thresh it forever;
When he drives his cart wheel over it with his horses, he does not crush it.
This also comes from the Lord of hosts;
He is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.
Love,
