As women we are prone to want to fix things, control our surroundings, and emote. Any of these responses are typical of women in general. Sometimes I’ve even felt guilty if I’ve not responded in one of these ways, as if I’ve dropped the ball on the proper action I should have taken.
But, as I read in the Word, and am challenged by re-reading A Call to Prayer , I’ve concluded that the only response we really need to be taking when fear, disappointment, anger, uncertainty, bad news, [fill in the blank], comes our way is to pray.
God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to Him. 1 Peter 5:7
Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22
It isn’t that we do all we can then pray. It isn’t even that we pray and then turn around and work things out in our own power for our own good.
It is that we pray.
We turn to God immediately with the bad news and trust He is bigger than that. We turn to God immediately with the fear and trust that He is faithful. We turn to God immediately with the discouragement and trust that He is a good Father to us and will work all things out for good.
In the prayerfulness, we will know God more. We will draw near to Him…and He will draw near to us!
Pray always. Pray without ceasing. Pray at all times. These are commands that I desire to take to heart. I hope you will too!
Love, Wendy
