Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel.
2 Timothy 2: 8

King David was a man after God’s own heart.  God blessed him abundantly, cared for him and protected him.  He was a beloved king and he cared for and protected the Israelites too.  We know many of his wonderful accomplishments as we read the Old Testament.  We also know many of his sins.  And, yet, God called David a man after His own heart because David was contrite in spirit and broken in heart when his sins were brought before him.  He didn’t want to wallow in them.  He sought repentance.

When Jesus entered the earthly scene, He performed many miracles that included healing from physical problems as well as being set free from demon possession.  Some who called out to Jesus for healing referred to him as “Son of David” as they begged for mercy.  It appears that these needy people were well aware of Jesus’ royal connection.  Who else would be performing such amazing feats of healing and speaking such profound truths than the Anointed One who would save Israel?  God may not have opened the hard-hearted, self-righteous Pharisees to appreciate who Jesus truly was, but He certainly made Him clear to the deaf-mute, the blind men, the Gentile woman with a demon-possessed daughter, the crowd of people craving a saving King.

As you consider Jesus, has God opened your eyes to your great need for Him?  Do you believe He is a righteous King who saves?  Do you know that you need saving?  We all do!  Will you believe?

If you are a Christ-follower, my encouragement to you today is to praise our King Jesus and to live as a daughter of our King.  Jesus saves His people and heals them from all unrighteousness.  You have the wealth of heaven as your inheritance.  Live richly through Jesus because He has come to give you life abundantly.  Do not allow the enemy of our souls to steal from you what is rightly yours through Christ.  Just like King David, we too must live with broken and contrite hearts so that our complete dependence is on the One

who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.  Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ.

Romans 1: 3-6

Love, Wendy
