God is the God of

patience and comfort

Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5

hope

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

peace

Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen. Romans 15:33

justice

And the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for He is a God of justice. Psalm 50:6 NIV

For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe. Deuteronomy 10:17

God is all these things…and much more. He is the Great I Am–no human words can truly even describe Him! As I read the Word and notice these kinds of descriptions by the apostle Paul, Moses, and the psalmists, I wonder if there is a difference between is and of. God is just, God is peace, God is love, God is patient. But, when we read that God is the God of these things, it makes me realize these qualities aren’t just who He is, but He is also OVER those things. He’s not just patient, He is the originator of patience, He is the boss of patience, He is the One who showed patience what patience actually is. He’s not one among other patient people, He is THE patient One above all other patient ones.

This week is Holy Week. Do you know the One who died on the cross? Do you know the One who bore the sins of the world? Do you know the One who had victory over death? Do you know the One who walked out of His own tomb in the victory of His own resurrection?

This One is the God of all gods–the God of all. Praise Him! If not now, one day there will be no other choice.
